The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was the largest, heaviest, and most expensive fighter aircraft in history to be powered by a single piston engine. It was heavily armed with eight .50 cal machine guns, four per wing. The P-47D was the most popular version with 12,602 built.
The P-47N was the last Thunderbolt variant to be produced, with a new wing design that extended range and increased roll rate.
The model is in the distinctive colors of Lt. Oscar Perdomo, the last US pilot to become "ace in a day" during WW2.
