The F-14 served as the U.S. Navy"s primary maritime air superiority fighter, fleet defense interceptor and tactical reconnaissance platform, it was first deployed in the mid 70s and retired in 2006, becoming an icon among jet fighters.
The F-14 received its first major upgrade in 1987 with the F-14A Plus (later re-designated F-14B). The F-14A"s P&W engine was upgraded with the GE F110-GE-400. The F-14A+ also received the ALR-67 Radar Homing and Warning. Originally employed as an air superiority fighter, after the end of the Cold War the Tomcat became a full strike platform.
VF-102 Diamondbacks delivered more ordnance and flew more combat hours than any other Tomcat unit during Operation Enduring Freedom.
It"s complete with the typical loadout for strike missions: GBU-12 Paveway, LANTIRN pod and AIM-7 and 9 for self defense.
