This revolver is modeled after an Iver Johnson (.32 caliber S&W Long), a type of pistol no longer made as the company no longer exists. It is vintage and probably dates to the late 1960s. This type of firearm was marketed as a cheap means of home defense. Modeled to real world scale (in cm).
The model is functional for the purposes of animation, all of the pivots are in the correct place, i.e. for the breech to be opened, the trigger to be pulled, etc.
Rendered with MentalRay but with Maya shaders, so you don't have to render with MR. There is one bump map for the lettering, it is 1024x1024. The design on the grip is a procedural texture, but I have saved it out if you are going to be using the .fbx or .obj version of the model, or if your needs do not support procedural textures (i.e. game engines).
Poly count is for the version without the polySmooth. With polySmooth, verts number 18418 and faces number 18420.
As a bonus, I have included a model of the bullet for free. It too utilizes Maya shaders.
I have tried to name everything in the file so you'll know what all nodes are. Maya version includes three files: a file with just the gun, another file with just the bullet, and a third file with the lighting setup I used to render for your convenience. These are also included in a .zip file with the textures for your convenience.
