Описание

This is a model of the German GDR/DDR Kleincomputer KC-85/3 as manufactured by the VEB Mikroelektronik „Wilhelm Pieck“ in Mühlhausen from 1987 to 1990. Included is the model of the main unit as well as the keyboard including cable connectors.

The file versions of the model ending in “_low” include both the low-poly base and can be smoothed/subdivided; files ending in “_subdivided” are of the smoothed version with a much higher polygon count.

How to use with Maya

  1. Set your project and use Maya’s default project structure
  2. Extract the textures to [project]/sourceimages
  3. Copy the files ending in .MA or .MB to [project]/scenes
  4. Open the scene from [project]/scenes. All texture maps should connect and render correctly with Arnold.


Additional Information

In the Maya file there are two LED materials, so to switch a LED or or off, just assign it the other material.

Additional file versions to Maya ASCII and binaries (.MA and .MB)  include both FBX 2017 and FBX 2020 (pick which one your software is capable of importing) and OBJs, although it’s best to use the Maya file as it’s ready to render with Arnold.

The entire model is UV mapped (non-overlapping), all texture maps are in 4K (4096×4096) included as 16-bit-per-channel lossless compressed PNG files as well as the Photoshop source files to create all maps from. 

Both the model components and Photoshop layers/elements are sensibly named, grouped, and organized.

Notes

  • The topology is not 100% free of n-gons and could be optimized some more
  • The model is not game-ready and its poly could could be optimized
  • There are no normal maps, the bump maps were sufficient
  • The device has no insides modeled
  • The ventilation holes on the back are painted on and no real geometry
  • When importing from FBX, make sure that the color management of the textures ending in “-diffuse” or “-emission” is set to “sRGB”, and “raw” for all the others
  • Apart from the keyboard, there are no modeled cables.
