Electric guitars, string instruments, are guitars whose sound is amplified by electronics, as opposed to a body. With the electric guitar, the vibrations from the strings are picked up by electronics known as pick-ups, which sit on the body of a guitar. Pick-ups are magnetic devices which can sense the vibrations of the strings and convert them into electrical energy. This energy goes on to be aplified through a speaker.

Electric guitars are instruments of practically all modern music. From heavy metal to punk, and rock ‘n’ roll to pop. With their wide range of special effects, including the “wammy-bar” and “wah-wah” pedal, they lend themselves to music whether a disorted scream is needed, or a crystal clear melody.
