Dicksonosteus is an extinct genus of basal arthrodire placoderm fish which lived during the Early Devonian period (about 419 to 415 million years ago) of Spitsbergen, Norway. It was a primitive arthrodire, and is considered to be one of the earliest members of this group. Dicksonosteus is thought to have been a bottom-dwelling fish, which fed on small invertebrates and other fish. It was probably a predator, and its powerful jaws would have allowed it to prey on a variety of different animals.
