The T-6 was
an unarmed Texan trainer by North American Aircraft. It served as an aerobatic
flight trainer for the Army Air Forces, Navy (SNJ), Marines (SNJ) and other
allied forces during World War II. Also serviced as a ground attack aircraft.
After the war many were sold to third world countries and civilian private
flying schools. Some remained in service with militaries around the world until
the 1970s.

In the US these
aircraft were sold as surplus to civilian pilots and were used as trainers,
aerobatic airplanes for air shows and were restored to represent versions that
had seen combat or training service in WWII. Many were transferred to the Civil Air Patrol and there would serve as a
search and rescue platform as well as an advanced trainers until the 1970s Now
the AT-6 and T-6, SNJ are in the hands of hundreds of private owners and
museums who take great care in maintaining and flying these aircraft.
