descripción

Unique photorealistic 3D model of pineapple with 100% handmade topology.

More than 240 fruitlets (sub-fruits) with individual bracts (dry leaf on each fruitlet) were modeled and unwrapped by hand. It took several month to accomplish. Highly skilled work that needed to create this asset from scratch, multiplied by the time required to do so - eventually thousands dollars worth. This wonderful professionally made asset will not only significantly enrich any 3D scene, but also save a lot of money and tremendous amount of time.

It is created using best practices, taking into account convenience of its further use in 3D scenes of various type. The shape and texture of pineapple fruit (body) were originally scanned from a real pineapple in a photogrammetry studio. Its crown was disassembled into individual leaves. Each individual leave was scanned from both sides using high-resolution 2D flatbed scanner and then recreated in geometry.

SCALE

3D model represents a real-world pineapple (foliage included) of 37 x 18 x 17 cm size.

MODELS

Pineapple - MAX / FBX / OBJ

The default model. Intended for use in photorealistic close-up shots.

Pineapple_No Subdivision Foliage - MAX / FBX / OBJ

The same topology, but with a slightly modified foliage shape. Intended for use in as a real-time / game engine prop.

Pineapple_Fruit Transverse Slice - MAX / FBX / OBJ

The same as default model, but fruit body cut in half (cross section) into two separate models.

All MAX models, except "No Subdivision Foliage" version, has TurboSmooth and Displacement (fruit only) modifiers applied. Universal FBX & OBJ formats contain low-poly base-mesh only.

Originally made in Blender, refined and rendered in 3ds Max 2017 & V-Ray 3.6, finally back-saved as 3ds Max 2015.

MATERIALS

Asset materials rely entirely on PBR texture set. Therefore, it actually does not really matter what application you use. Just import base-mesh from FBX / OBJ and create only two (three for sliced version) materials for body and foliage in seconds, by placing corresponding textures into appropriate material slots.

Model in native MAX format, contains ready-to-use V-Ray based materials "out of the box".

TEXTURES

Archives with different assets, contains all necessary textures in 2K. 8K & 4K versions of textures are available separately in "HighRes Maps" zip archive.

Texture sets are equipped with: BaseColor, Specular, Roughness, Normal, Displace & AO.

Normal maps are provided for DirectX & OpenGL workflows. Both are in 16-bit PNG format.

Displacement map comes as a 32-bit OpenEXR.

UV's

All models are fully UV-unwrapped. Pineapple's body main texture UV-island is horizontally tillable.

ADDITIONAL

Studio and interior scene setups, with cameras, lighting, et cetera, are not provided, Pineapple model only.

Presentation images rendered in V-Ray 3.6.
