History
The famous GG1 Electric Locomotive was designed for the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1935 by Raymond Loewy, the "Father of Industrial Design". In the Deco style, many consider it his crowning achievement. They were used in electrified high-speed passenger service, and later re-geared for freight haulage. The GG1 was in use until the late 1980's, and many are now being restored and are in museums.

The Model
The SolidWorks™ CAD model was created from research, hundreds of photographs and is derived from an exceptional drawing by Alan B. Chesley, published in the December 1975 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman Magazine. It is representative of my museum quality work in the field of Industrial Archeology (IA).

This historically accurate and highly detailed full scale (1:1) locomotive would be an ideal addition to mid 20th Century set design and imaging, and is capable of extreme close-ups and rendering. The rendered images depict the two typical color scheme of (dark) Brunswick Green and Tuscan Red, with gold (Delux) striping and lettering.

The lettering and stripes are created and UV mapped as "split lines", and do not have physical geometry, thus allowing the application of decals or labels to suit. A 300 foot long track and overhead electrical system (all as individual assemblies to allow linear patterning) is included.

The high resolution model contains 10,805,318 polys. All parts and/or surfaces were color mapped within SolidWorks™, and migrate to the .obj as proven in KeyShot tests.

The SolidWorks™ model was converted into the .obj format using SimLab Animation. Rendering is in KeyShot 3 Pro from Luxion.

The accuracy, modeling quality and high resolution defines the GG1 Locomotive as a definitive statement of the historical record, and is reflected by the price.
