Stepped, pierced brass corner guards protect all eight corners. The front closes with a knuckle-hinged hasp, slotted strap, staple and lock pin, and the lid turns on two five-knuckle hinges along its real hinge line.
Inside, a walnut liner lip and emerald velvet lining frame a ring-roll section, three compartments and an earring cushion, with a brass-framed mirror in the lid and a folding brass lid stay.
