This is a bookshelf based on one that I built in real life a few years ago. Its simple, clean-line design is loosely based on the Shaker furniture style. I used a combination of furniture-grade plywood for the large, flat pieces and hardwood dimensional lumber for the edging.

The doors use a pop-up magnetic latch that allows you to push to open or close and eliminates the need for door handles. The piano hinges are unobtrusive and elegant.

The unit is structurally strong and rigid, designed and built to last.
