History

The Advanced Concept Ejection Seat (ACES) was designed to be rugged and lightweight compared to earlier systems. It also was designed to be easy to maintain and updatable. ACES was introduced in the late 1970s by McDonell Douglas and became a standard feature on many US military aircraft, including the A-10, F-15, F-16, F-22, and B-1. The ACES seat is currently manufactured by Collins Aerospace.
