To render the Maya file in mental ray you will need to press the '3' button on the keyboard for the Smooth Mesh Preview.

The Maya file includes a lighting setup that uses 2 Spheres one for reflaction and the other for Final Gather , plus 2 directional lights. Correct color management is set in all the files in Maya.

The preview images in the above presentations are all rendered with no post work. The image with the character in an open field has been rendered using an HDR image that is not included in the download.
