The MP7 is an automatic weapon with a specially designed 4.6×30mm cartridge. The MP7 is designed as a small submachine gun, the magazine is inserted into the pistol grip, the buttstock is telescoping, and there is a folding extra grip at the front. The MP7 is a gas operated, short-stroke gas piston operated weapon, which is locked by rotating bolt. The design of the MP7 is based on the HK G36 rifle, and utilizes some of the features of the HK G36, such as the extensive use of polymer materials, and similar trigger guard and trigger guard design.
