Description

Scientifically accurate model of the carcinogenic humane papillomavirus type 16 ( HPV16). This type of Papillomavirus can cause f. e. cervical cancer.

The virus capsid consists of two proteins, L1 ( green and brown ) and L2 ( ruby red ) on the inner surface of the capsid, organized in 12 capsomeres.

The organization and packaging of the viral DNA is not completely clear yet, but it is known that it consists of a circular DNA of ~ 8000 base pairs of nucleotids wrapped around ~30 histones that come from the host. ( I reconstructed the genome following the latest results of scientifical knowledge).

Whereever possible, the model is made of instances for easy handling although it is big in poly-count.
