Description

Bun Bus is a community bus operated by Kokubunji City, Tokyo. The first route, the Hiyoshicho Route, was opened on March 21, 2003, and the newest route, the Manyo-Keyaki Route, began operation on December 26, 2016. Currently, the service is outsourced to four bus companies, and six routes depart from and arrive at Kokubunji Station, Nishi-Kokubunji Station, and Kunitachi Station. Some of the routes run into Kunitachi City, as well as the neighboring cities of Fuchu and Koganei.

The design of the vehicles is a pale yellow background with green trees and colorful "Bun Bus" and "KOKUBUNJI CITY" logos. Some of the vehicles also feature the official mascot of Kokubunji City, "Bunji Hotaru Hotchi". From the start of operation, both Keio Bus and Tachikawa Bus introduced their own Hino Liesse buses with a step-lift on the middle door, but to promote barrier-free access, they promoted the conversion of vehicles to non-step buses[8], and all Liesse vehicles have been replaced by Hino Poncho (second-generation HX series) and are no longer in existence.
