Spartina Bakeri: Sand Cordgrass
Spartina bakeri is a species of grass known by the common names sand cordgrass[1] and bunch cordgrass. It is native to the southeastern United States, where it grows along the coast and in inland freshwater habitat in Florida. The stems can grow up to four ft tall, and bunches can reach spreads of up to 20 ft. Although it is native to the edges of lakes, canals and streams, it is also found in dry, sandy soil, making it quite versatile for a number of dry or wet situations. Cord Grass is a favorite grass of golf course landscape designers who often use it to define borders and provide transitions between wet and dry areas.
