Description

Description:
This is a high-quality 3D model of a Daceton armigerum ant with extremely realistic detail. The neotropical Daceton armigerum (a type of “trap-jaw” arboreal ant) is recreated with attention to every feature – from its spiny exoskeleton and powerful mandibles to the fine hairs on its body. The model is fully rigged and comes with a smooth, loopable walk cycle animation, making it ready for immediate use in your animation or VFX projects. Created in Autodesk Maya 2025 with XGen hair for tiny bristles (no plugins needed), and rendered in Arnold 7.2 without post-processing, this asset is ideal for film, TV, scientific visualization, or education projects that require a lifelike insect. Purchasing this model will save you an estimated 100–120 hours of work.

  • Topology & Geometry: Approximately 11,400 vertices (about 22,900 tris) with clean, optimized topology. UVs are unwrapped (non-overlapping), ~12,600 UV coordinates in total, ensuring efficient use of textures and no overlaps.
  • Rigging: Rigged in Maya 2025 with an intuitive skeletal setup and IK handles for easy posing/animation. All legs, head, abdomen, and mandibles are rigged for realistic movement. The rig is clean and hierarchy is neatly organized.
  • Animation: Includes a seamless looping walk cycle (ant walking animation) that can be repeated indefinitely. The animation is baked and ready to play or export. This makes the ant immediately usable in animated scenes without additional rigging work.
  • Textures & Shaders: Comes with high-resolution 8192×8192 (8K) PBR textures: Base ColorNormal, and Roughness maps (all 32-bit TIFF format for excellent color depth). Materials are set up for Arnold with realistic shader settings (subsurface, specular highlights, etc.) to match real ant material properties. The level of detail allows for close-up renders with crisp details.
  • Hair Details (Fur): Fine hairs on the ant’s body are generated using Maya XGen for realism. No additional plugins are required to render the hair – it’s all native Maya/Arnold. The hair adds authenticity in macro shots, simulating the tiny setae on the ant’s body.
  • Rendering & Lighting: The model was developed and test-rendered in Arnold 7.2. A basic lighting setup is included in the Maya scene for preview purposes (as used in the presentation images). The renders shown in the previews have no post-production, so you’ll get similar results directly in Arnold.
