The Tree of Life, inside Expo 2015, was the symbol of the Italian Pavilion. The 37-meter tall tree is constructed of steel and wood, and is located in the middle of the Lake Arena.
Born from an idea of the artistic director of the Italian Pavilion cand designed by the Giforma studio, it was financed and implemented by the Orgoglio Brescia Consortium.
The work represents, at the same time, sculpture, installation, building and monument, with clear references to the Italian Renaissance and the floor structure of Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome created by Michelangelo in the sixteenth century.
The tree of life was protagonist and rich in light and water shows, accompanied by iconic music of Italian culture. Composer of the original music of the Tree of Life is Roberto Cacciapaglia.
During the six months of Expo, 14 million people attended the Tree of Life shows, two thirds of the total visitors.
