TurboSquid Revit® Contest Offers $2500 Prize

(New Orleans, LA – March 20, 2009) – Revit Market, TurboSquid’s marketplace for user-generated Revit families, is pleased to announce an extension to its Revit Family Contest deadline to March 31. Revit Market, an extension of TurboSquid’s 3D marketplace, was created in partnership with Autodesk® Seek as a place for Revit users to sell families they’ve created themselves.

The Revit Family Contest offers users a first prize of $2500 in three categories. To enter, users submit a Revit project that includes families they’ve published for sale at Revit Market. The contest is intended to grow the Revit Market library with additional quality families for purchase and download. In participating, a user has two ways of making money: a chance to win the contest itself, and recurring revenue as their families sell to other Revit users.

TurboSquid started Revit Market based on needs expressed by Revit users. “Our surveys showed that they’re ready for a place to buy and sell user-generated content,” says Michele Bousquet, Director of Marketing for Revit Market. “For Revit users, the primary concern is quality. We responded with a certification process, testing every item to make sure it works as it should.” She adds that over 90% of content tested has passed, and that certified families are clearly marked as such.

Revit Market recently attracted several large libraries for publication, including the Reved Up Families, RevitComponents, and RVT Pacifica libraries. The item count now tops 1200, with more on the way. While about half the items at Revit Market come from large libraries, the rest are from small private collections, and from individuals working alone. “Many freelancers have Revit families they’ve created for their own projects,” says Ms. Bousquet. “We hope they’ll find that Revit Market, and the contest, give them a way to make some cash from what they’ve already got. Ultimately, it’s participation from Revit users that will make Revit Market work.”
