Sculpture 'Keedya' - one of the many small street statues that adorn the streets of Elista, the capital of Kalmykia. The sculpture is located in the heart of the city, near the city market.
'Keedya' was established in 1996 specifically to participate in the international contest-biennale, which was held in Elista. The author of the creation was the famous sculptor N.Elejiev, who carved one of the characters of the popular Kalmyk tale from the stone. 'Keedya' depicts a cunning old man sitting on a little lamb riding, and the symbolic meaning of this sculpture can be learned from the fairy tale itself - Kedya is a cunning and folk wisdom, as well as a firm belief in yourself and your strength.
'Keedya' is not considered an important city attraction, but the statue still attracts the views of many tourists. Sculpture looks very funny and is an unconditional adornment of Elista.
