A .38 caliber revolver, specifically known as a '.38 special.' Common use in police forces from the 1920s to 1990s.
All parts have the appropriate pivot for animation purposes. The cylinder turns, and opens just like the real thing. The hammer and trigger can be rotated back as well.
Lighting was done by plugging an .hdr image (free one I found online) into the IBL node in mental ray. The lighting .mb file is included as a bonus, but the .hdr image is not. You can easily plug in your own .hdr image and get the same lighting I rendered with.
Materials are mental ray only. If you want to use a different renderer (or the .fbx or .obj in different software) you will need to replace the materials. Textures (including some normal maps) are included (2048x2048).
I strive to name all nodes and keep my scene files cleaned up.
