Description
A holographic display, perfect for the bridge of a spaceship. The model is not symmetrical, allowing for a different look depending on its rotation.

Models

The model is offered as both low-poly and high-poly.

Low poly: 12538 triangles, intended for game engines (or faster rendering). 2 levels of detail (LODs) are included in addition to the base model.

High poly: 55642 triangles, for high resolution render. The model has been prepared for subdivision, edges that need to remain sharp have been beveled. This model has each side separated to different polygons shells, making it possible to move them around and swap them.

Both versions are made from 3 different objects: The hologram, the projector and the metal floor. Each object has its own set of textures and its own material. The primary UVs are overlapping, but the projector and the floor both have a second set of non-overlapping UVs for light-maps and dirt-maps.

Textures:

2 types of textures are offered: standard and PBR.


Textures per object:

Hologram:
- color (can be used for emissive value, the file also has an alpha layer for transparency)

Projector:
-color
-normal map
-specular (only for non-pbr render, use as specular color)
-roughness (PBR, white is rough and black is glossy)
-metalness (PBR, white is metal and black is non-metal)
-emission

Metal floor:
-color
-normal map
-specular
-roughness
-metalness

Additionally, 4 seamless dirt-maps are included for added detail, but they are not necessary for the model to work. They are meant to be added to the roughness value, using the second UV set and rescaled to add fine detail.

For best results, some of the maps may need to have their intensity changed depending on the software.

Files:

Blender:

Everything is setup and should work, with all textures connected, including dirt-maps. This is the version used for the previews. The download includes PBR and non-PBR files, each containing a low-poly and a high-poly scene. The non-PBR version is rendered in Blender Internal and the PBR version is rendered in Cycles.

Maya:

Done in Maya 2018, using Arnold renderer (note that the shaders may not be compatible with previous versions). Everything is setup and should work, with all textures connected, including dirt-maps. Low-poly and High-poly scenes are included. Only the PBR textures are used in this version, as this is the appropriate workflow for the renderer. The roughness and metalness maps have been modified to have an alpha layer, as this is required for the renderer. Note that the shaders used don't display properly in the viewport, but work correctly in the render.

FBX:

For other software. The materials are not included as they would not export properly, but they should be easy to re-create as the textures do most of the work. The download includes PBR and non-PBR textures in their own files, as well as files containing low-poly and high-poly objects. The 3 objects are kept separate as their materials and UV sets are different.

OBJ:

Same as FBX, included for added compatibility.

PSD:

The PSD files used for making the textures, with all their layers.
