Pushpaka Vimana is a mythological flying palace or chariot.
The Pushpaka chariot that resembles the Sun and belongs to my brother was brought by the powerful Ravana; that aerial and excellent chariot going everywhere at will .... that chariot resembling a bright cloud in the sky ... and the King [Rama] got in, and the excellent chariot at the command of the Raghira, rose up into the higher atmosphere.''
It is the first flying vimana mentioned in Hindu mythology (as distinct from the gods' flying horse-drawn chariots). Pushpaka was originally made by Vishwakarma for Kubera, the God of wealth, but was later stolen, along with Lanka, by his half-brother, the demon king Ravana.
Valimiki Ramayana describes the most glorious times ever witnessed was at the time of King Rama in India and Rakshasa King Ravana in Sri Lanka. Gomati mentioned in Ramayana can be seen in School Atlas in Uttar Pradesh in India. Nala- Sethu, a prehistoric wonder (renamed as Adam's Bridge by the British): huge land mass 65 km long and 5 km wide built in just 5 days on 20 to 200 meters deep sea bridging India and Sri Lanka provides concrete archeological evidence on existence of (1) Vanara, Golangul, Rukshya civilizations, (2) Crown Prince Rama under whose commandership the Sethu was built, and (3) Rakshasa King who ruled the island with Capital Lanka City situated on Pidurutalagala Peak of Nuwara Eliya Hills in Sri Lanka.
The aircraft used by Rama, Crown Prince of Ayodhya looks incredible to the modern man. People mistake Ramayana as a fiction or mythology when events like Rama's flying to Ayodhya by aircraft are compared with flying to London by jet engines. I was fortunate enough to converse with the holy spirit of most prominent Vanara Leader, Hanuman through a medium, Ramu Sarma at Delhi i\during 1975-1978. Hanuman revealed that the Pushapak aircraft has flown from ancient Sri Lanka to Kishkindha (mountain- cave existed once near Bellary town in Karnataka State) via Arabian Sea to avoid crash against hills as in the case of modern flights. In comaprison, Saints can directly converse with Devatas and holy spirits. My Ajna Chakra could spot out Mahavatar Baba in tiny form, when 124 year old saint, Vidur Giri ji who lived in the Ashram at Jalamand in Jodhpur City of Rajasthan conversed with theBaba's spirit in 1996. Some of the ancient humans (Maharshis), Vanaras, Golanguls, Rukshyas, Gradrus, and Rakshasas attained mystic powers (siddhis) through long penances or right from their birth. As a result of long penances (tapasya), they enjoyed certain facilities and abilities more than what we see, feel, experience and enjoy. It will be a blunder if we comapre their living conditions with the present day situations.
At Srungaverapuram Rama and Lakshman locked their hair on the head like mendicants seen in India. From Srungaverapuram onwards Rama travelled through deep forest or mountains in India and Sri Lanka without touching any village or town in the way. Therefore the places mentioned in this article were forests during Ramayana period.
After Lanka war, Rama desired that he should return as soon as possible to Ayodhya to meet his younger brother, Bharat (Reference: sloka 6-7, page 1425, Valmiki Ramayana published by Geeta Press, Gorakpur, Uttar Pradesh, India).
Each part of Pushpak Viman made of gold is delightful to see. It was studded with precious stones including sapphires. Secret rooms inside are shining like silver. On the top of the aero plane the
