High Res Textures This Realistic Earth model comes with some of the largest textures available anyway. The diffuse texture for the ground is split into 8 textures each 21600x21600. When composed together in 3ds max the texture is 86400x43200. The cloud texture comes as two images as well, each 21600x21600, and they make a 43200x21600 texture when composed together. This model also includes a realistic bump map for the earth at 21600x10800, a land mask at 8192x4096, an earth night diffuse at 16384x8192, an earth night lights texture at 30000x15000, and an ocean rifts texture at 21601x10801. Finally the model includes two 360 star maps for the back ground. The complex star map is at 16384x8192 and the simple star map is at 8192x4096. Due to large texture sizes the textures are spilt into 3 downloads separate from the model.
Simple Earth The large texture sizes can make this model difficult to work with. For this reason we have included Simple Earth. Simple Earth is the same 3ds max file but with much smaller textures. This makes using simple Earth ideal for quickly test rendering, adjusting the custom attributes, and setting up animations. After you have your file setup to render, simple save and close 3ds Max, replace the textures in the simple earth folder with the full resolution textures, and open the file again. It will load with the full resolution textures, and you can begin your final HD rendering process. In addition to Simple Earth, we have also included textures at reduced sizes.
Custom Attributes Within the 3ds max file, you have custom attributes to adjust Ocean Rift Visibility, Night Land Visibility, Night Light Intensity, Cloud Visibility, Atmosphere Visibility, Atmosphere Night Visibility, Atmosphere Color, and Star map Intensity. You can see examples of what these attributes do in the example renders above.
Intended for game/realtime/background use. The textures are made with NASA Visible Earth imagery.
