The Aura Pendant is inspired by a Victorian locket, where memories are held close to the owners heart. The two sided, handcarved lenses are held in bronze hardware that mimics the idea of a clasp opening and closing. This piece further emphasizes my interest in creating atmospheric lighting that has a meditative sculptural quality. At night, the illumination is distorted through the optical properties of the lens, projecting a prismatic silhouette on the wall and ceiling, hovering weightless, much like an aura itself. No matter the time of day there is something hypnotic about staring at the filament through the distorted body of glass, as though it is electricity underwater.
