This is a very detailed, high quality 3D model of Olenoides serratus. It was a common Cambrian trilobite that lived 505 million years ago during Cambrian period and used to be a part of the famous Burgess Shale ecosystem.
The 3D model is rigged and animated. Turbosmooth modifier is added to the mesh, its Viewport iterations are set to 0 and Render iterations are set to 4. The model is rendered with 3ds max mental ray render with the use of Displacement.
The animation is looped from 0 to 72 frames, showing the trilobite walking on spot. The model is rigged with CAT system, the antennae and tails are rigged with Spline IK with Flex modifier.
The scene contains mental ray Sun and Sky system, water surface above the camera, but it does NOT contain the model of the sea floor that is show on the context image. There is some degree of Depth of Field added to the camera.
