Model has an open stack for metal and glass part: line > Lathe modifier The lava consists of a basic particle system (Superspray) using the Metaparticles feature.
IMPORTANT: Hence Metaparticles react differently to different scales, the superspray is only used as a 'driver object'! The actual Lava, that will be rendered, is a mesher object from that particle system. This makes scaling very easy. If you want to merge the lamp into another scene, make sure to merge all 'Lavalamp_'-objects.
You will figure it out when you inspect the layers in the max file.
Animation is setup until frame 10000. I recommend to not use it until the end. building up the Metamesh will always start from frame 0. It will take a blink of an eye in the first frame, but took 21 sec here, for frame 600.
The lamp has a height of 35 cm. animation was timed in 24 fps.
There are no textures in the scene. It's all shading.
