This model can be used as a game level, but it was originally designed for accident reconstruction and legal graphics. Attorneys usually have a limited budget and short turnaround time, so having a versatile environment is key to turning a profit. This is an updated version of the environment that I have been using for the last couple of years.
This is a rural setting with nearly all the different variations of curves and straightaway you might find on a rural roadway. Extra parts and pieces are included so customizations are quick. Need extra mountains in the background? Not a problem. The mountains that surround the area are set in 4 different layers so moving them around and adding additional content is a snap. The 9,500 simple two polygon trees that populate the background are broken up into 5 individual layers so you can remove off camera trees and reduce render times.
This looped road is just over 2 miles long and built to scale with each lane being 14 feet wide from white fog line to center of the yellow divider line. The road is UV mapped with high resolution photo based textures. Guard rails and road signs are also included along with mile markers along the roadway. Additionally, you will find two intersections, one of which leads to a large open area (3,495’ X 1,161’) at the center of the environment. This area is a great place to add a small town or residential area.
This model comes complete with textures and images as shown in the sample images, with the exception of the HDRI Sky background. Multiple road textures are included so you can quickly change the type of road you’re working with. The Photoshop files for the road textures are included with all the layers intact so you can make custom textures. Photoshop files are also included for the road signs and mile markers.
The 3DS and Lightwave versions are packaged together in the same file.
The Lightwave version contains 84,900 polygons, but please note that the mountains and road are SubPached.
The 3DS version contains 168,156 polygons. Please note that while the UV maps are in place this version is not textured, as 3DS is not my usual package of choice. I used NuGraf for the conversion and tested it in 3DS 9. If there is any problem with it, please e-mail the support team with suggestions or instructions on how to do the conversion differently and I will be happy to reproduce it for you.
The HDRI Sky used the demo images is not included.
The Lightwave version 9 was used to create the sample images.
