Lava Planet / Planet 55 Cancri e
Planet 55 Cancri e is almost completely covered in lava, with one half locked to continually face its star and having a completely molten surface. This side of the planet roasts at 2500C, while the opposite side is in constant night and is a relatively cool 1100C.

In this version Displacement map is added so planet is more realistic and looks better on closeups. Also volumetric fog is added to simulate the smoky atmosphere of planet.

You have complete control over poly counts. Model details is achieved by displacement modifier and turbosmooth.
It's easy to take the model ( OBJ / FBX are included ) and provided maps to re-create the planet in other software or rendering engines. You have access to PBR as well as Spc/Gloss maps so it can be setup in any rendering engine or software.

There is also a 'Galaxy fog' that add some details to background. In camera settings, under 'Environment Ranges' there is 'Near Range' settings - This defines where the fog starts. You'd want to render with Camera so fog doesn't obscure the planet. Alternatively you can disable the Galaxy fog under Effects panel.

Texturing is achieved with combination of Procedural maps, Satellite images, Sculpting and Manual painting.
This model is using one texture set (1 UVW).
Actual planet diameter in real life is ~ 25,000,000 Meter ( About twice Earth's diameter ) - however in the 3d scene diameter of planet is set to 140 Centimeter.

This model uses a scale of 1 unit = 1 centimeter
Scene objects are organized by layers / groups.
