The U-88 was one of 6 submarines built to the U-87 type. It was launched in June of 1916, and was lost, presumed to have hit a mine, September 1917. It carried 14 torpedoes and had 4 torpedo tubes in front and 2 torpedo tubes aft. It was 65.8 meters long. It had a top speed of 15.6 knots on the surface and could go 8.6 knots while submerged. It had a crew of 43.
