Description
This tiny 1920’s era 2 ½ ton Plymouth Locomotive Works 36” gauge narrow gauge “Contractor’s” locomotive was typical of those used in foundries, rolling mills, factories and in rail and highway construction. The SolidWorks geometry was reverse-engineered from an original Builder’s Catalogue, as one of my projects in the field of Industrial Archeology (IA).   

It is an accurate and highly detailed full-scale (1:1) model.   I did not fully model the LeRoi 4-cylinder motor as I do not have sufficient data to do so.

The high resolution 1,291,268 poly model has 97 parts, most of which contain integral “parts” such as nuts, bolts and the like, modeled in the solid to reduce part count and file size. All parts and/or appropriate surfaces are individually UV mapped.

The SolidWorks geometry was converted into .obj using SymLab Composer, and into 3DS using SYMCODE. The 3DS file imports into KeyShot-2 without color mapping, but accepts materials as intended.

The IGES files are available as both “standard” and “NURBS”, as created from within SolidWorks. The images were rendered in KeyShot-2 from Luxion.
