This is my first 3D model of a forthcoming series of classic and historic fighter jets and my very first model at this place. So what is more logical to start where and when it all began. The Me 262 was the very first applicable airplane driven by jet engines. It was developed from up 1938 and in 1941 the first test flights began. After many kickbacks with the no reliably engines and several changes in construction, it had the first few missions in spring 1944. This model comes in the colours of the one called 'Weisse 8' 'White 8' operated by Major Walter Nowotny, commander of a special test squadron for the Me 262. He died in a crash with this machine in November 1944. I remains unclear if the crash happened wether due engine failure or wether the machine was shotdown by the USAAF. The machine was build 1433 times and several machines 'survived' in repairable condition after WWII and had been captured by the allied forces. They should become the basis for several subsequent fighter jets.

This 3d model is ready to use in Lightwave 3D from up Version 9.6. A special setup scene file is included. Canopy, landing gear, flaps and engine turbines can be animated. This model is highly detailed an made from scratch by blueprints and photography. Due to the large number of very different and sometimes not exact templates, some details may be artistic liberty but as near to the original as possible.
The Wavefront-OBJ and FBX versions are created in Lightwave 3D 11.5 and exported to this formats. All moveable parts of the model are preserved just as the colours and uv mappings for the textured areas. Due to the different behaviour of various 3d programs in interpreting the predefined materials and settings you probably have to adjust especially the material settings to get similar results as seen in the demo images or change it for your taste. A 100% match to the Lightwave version could not be guaranteed.

Hope you enjoy it.
