The F-101 Voodoo was deployed in the late 1950s. Fast and agile it was well liked by the pilots. It was one of the first truly modern twin jet fighters that led to the development of the F-15 and F-18. The F-101 Voodoo was built by McDonnell Douglas beginning in the late 1950s. It was supersonic and carried bombs and missiles. It was designed to be a counter to the expected Russian long range strategic and nuclear armed bombers. The Voodoo was successful and served for more than a decade in the US and overseas with the US Air Force, Air Defense Command squadrons and with the Royal Canadian Air Force.
