The Sopwith Pup was a British single seat single engine fighter produced by Sopwith during WWI that was used extensively in service from 1916. The Pup was outclassed by German fighter development in 1917, but some Pups continued to serve until the end of the war. It was produced from 1916 in great numbers until 1918. A total of 1770 Sopwith Pups were built by 4 companies during World War I and those surviving units continued to serve for some time after the war.
Currently the Pups are a very prized museum piece and only home built replicas remain flying.
