Alien Moon Models is a collection of low poly 3D models (static meshes in game terminology) that can be used to create or detail a moon terrain, alien planet landscape or any barren, rocky terrain.
All models have been tested in the UDK game engine and are game ready.
The product includes 16 basic styles of models, some with variants (lower poly version, different profiles along bottom edges, groupings of small rocks) for a total of 30 models.
The models have very low poly counts and can be cloned many times without resulting in huge, bloated poly counts for your scene. Poly counts range from a high of 1490 for a cliff face to a low of 10 for a small rock, with most of the models falling in a range from 250 to 800 polys.
The included textures are tolerant of stretching. This means that the models can be scaled, stretched and squashed for great variety from a small set of models. The low poly construction also makes it easy to modify the models. Vertices on the lower edges of the models can be easily soft-selected and dragged downward to make the models blend into uneven landforms, or blend into each other for more complex shapes.
UV mapping is very basic with few seams. This allows you to customize the models with almost any rock texture you wish to use, without extensive Photoshopping to match textures to the UVs.
Model styles include cliff faces, outcroppings, peaks, crags, craters, an arch (whole and two halves), a stone bridge, boulder, slab, tapered pillar and small rocks.
Product includes some extra textures and 6 pages of instructions and tips for use.
Please Note: The thumbnails show a demo scene that was quickly created using just the included models. This demo scene is not included in the product. The sky texture shown in the demo scene is also not included.
- Many of the models have open bottoms, to keep poly counts low and simplify UV mapping. Models with open bottoms are not suitable for stereolithography (.stl).
Scene includes 14 textures – 7 diffuse maps and 7 normal maps. All textures are prepared in 7 ready-to use 3ds Max materials. All textures are .tga format, all sizes powers of 2.
Models 2048 X 2048 and 1024 X 1024 Small Rocks 256 X 256
Extras include 10 optional textures (5 diffuse and 5 normal maps). Texure sizes are 2048 X 2048 and 1024 X 1024. These textures can be used to create materials for a ground/terrain that will blend seamlessly with the Aliem Moon models, or to add variety to the texturing on the models themselves.
