The F-4 Phantom is a two seat fighter that was first used by the US Navy before being used by the Marine Corps and Air Force. It was built by McDonnell Aircraft Company. The aircraft could carry a wide range of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons and could travel at a speed of mach 2.2. It was used extensively during the Vietnam War and remained an important aircraft in the US military inventory until replaced by the F-15 and F-16 with the Air Force and the F-14 and F-18 with the Navy and Marines. It left service in 1996. About a dozen different countries used the Phantom.
