I''m printing out MRI scan''s and sometimes it is nice to compare the imperfect reality of the MRI print with a clean brain model.

I like the styling of this model. There are actually 12 objects/parts, as many are Left/Right, covering most cases, except both Thalamus are in same object.

The interthalamic adhesion is not shown, although the third Ventricle does have a gap for it. No Pineal gland (although would be obscured by the Ventricles), and only a few nerves shown on the brain stem.
Description
This is a realistic model of the subcortical structures of the human brain (without cortex), which is convenient for displaying their anatomy as well as their functional connections.

It contains the following objects:
1.) brainstem (medulla + pons), midbrain, thalamus, hypothalamus, pituitary gland and optic chiasm
2.) striatum (caudate-putamen and nucleus accumbens), amygdala
3.) nucleus pallidus
4.) hippocampus
5.) fornix with mammillary bodies
6.) corpus callosum
7.) ventricles
8.) cerebellum

It was modelled with Blender 2.70a and rendered with Cycles. The Glossy varnish-like materials are added.
