To render the Maya file in Mental Ray you will need to press the '3' button on the keyboard for the Smooth Mesh Preview.
The Maya file includes a lighting setup that uses two HDR.
In order to get the correct illumination in the Maya files inside the Mental Ray Common settings the Enable Color Management' is turn on.
