The Mooney M-18 'Mite' is a low-wing, single-place monoplane with retractable, tricycle landing gear.
The Mite was designed by Al Mooney and was intended as a personal airplane marketed to pilots returning from World War II as an inexpensive way to fly. The Mooney M-18 mite could be built at home in a garage or purchased. It had a high cruise speed of 140-150 mph and a good range over 600 miles. Many Mooney Mites have been restored and continue to fly around the US and Canada.
The Mooney Aircraft Corporation built a total of 283 Mites between 1947 and 1954.
