History
The Shenzhou spacecraft is operated by China and in design resembles the Russian Soyuz spacecraft. Unlike the Soyuz though it is larger in size with new construction. It first flew unmanned in 1999. Its first manned launch was in 2003. Shenzhou-9 was the first Shenzhou to dock with the Tiangong-1 space station (2012). Shenzhou-10 docked with Tiangong in 2013. Both flights carried three person crews. The Tiangong space station, China's first, was launched in 2011 and remains in orbit. Later space stations (Tiangng-2 and 3) will be launched over the next decade. Various modules will be put together in orbit to create the station. A modification of the Tiangong-1, known as the Tianzhou, will resupply the station.
