The Flakpanzer 38(t) auf Selbstfahrlafette 38(t) Ausf M Sd Kfz 140 'Gepard' was a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun. The Flakpanzer 38(t) was designed using the Pz 38 M (mid engine) chassis and was built from November 1943 to February 1944, entering service in 1944. This was the same chassis that was used on the Marder III M. A single barreled 20 cm Flak 38 was placed at the rear in an eight-sided armored fighting compartment. The upper part of the fighting compartment folded down to allow 360-degree traverse at low elevation. It’s main weakness was inadequate firepower. 150 were initially ordered but only 141 Flakpanzer 38(t)s were built. The majority of the Flakpanzer 38(t)s fought on the western front.
