Apatosaurus (synonymn: Brontosaurus) was a herbivore of the late Jurassic (around 148-155 million years ago). Like most sauropods, Apatosaurus had only a single claw on each forelimb, a long whip-like tail but very robust limbs, including long ribs to support it's massive gut. The structure of the neck vertebrae strongly suggest that it was adapted to low browsing or ground feeding. Reaching lengths of 21-27m in length, Apatosaurus weighed at least 23 tons.
