Modeled after a 1962 Mercedes Benz, this car is composed entirely of NURBS. They could be converted to polys if necessary. One version of the FBX (*_IDM - ~250k) will import as polys.
The canopy is rigged to retract via a 'custom attribute' I placed on the roof's mesh, so you can animate the top being put down or up.
Most of the shaders are miaMaterial (the rest are maya), and so you must render with MentalRay, or switch out for your own shaders. Some textures are procedural. Some utility nodes have been used as well, like SamplerInfo.
Textures are projection mapped and parented to the geometry. Their attributes are locked, so they won't accidentally be moved.
The color of the car is easily changed in the miaMaterial.
I have included two files, one with just the car and the other with the lighting setup I used for your convenience. It references the file that just has the car in it.
