History ********* The first (prototype) B 707. In 1972 the Dash 80 was donated to The National Air and Space Museum. Unfortunatly, The National Air and Space Museum didn't have room to house such a large aircraft. The Dash 80 was later abandoned in the desert for 18 years at Davis-Monthan AFB. In 1990 the manufacturer of the plane reclaimed it from the desert for restoration. In 1991, the restored Dash 80 made a flight to celebrate the 75th anniversary of company. The Dash 80 presently resides in a hanger at its manufacturer field, awaiting adequate display space at The National Air and Space Museum.
