Glass globe with beveled edges, extruded land masses in Maya 2008 ascii, FBX and obj included. 66,312 polygons all quads. Very clean geometry and normals. Good polygonal resolution for a globe mesh with fairly large bevels. Front faces, bevels, sides, back bevels, and back faces are assigned to different shading groups. Land masses separate.
The materials are the same as in the thumbnails. The pure color effect is added by adding colored lights to the scene reflecting off of various transparent gray materials. It’s a nice little trick I learned from a fellow animator some years ago. Adding rich colored lights of your choice will quickly result in the same effect to your taste or needed theme.
There are no texture uv's for a terrain map. There is one reflection map that acts as fill (notes for the Obj version are included).
