Description
Built in 1869 and, unlike other sanctuaries, was in charge of military leadership of the country. On holidays the role of the main agents belonged to the generals and admirals. It is in the Yasukuni shrine were lists of those killed in wars. In this sanctuary is also stored in the mirror and sword - the attributes of the imperial power.

In 1874, the emperor Meiji visited the Yasukuni shrine, which was an unprecedented act, inasmuch as it was not worshipped the gods, and the souls of the dead soldiers. Thus, the soldiers, who had sacrificed their lives for the emperor, were equated with the gods.
