This model is based on the Star 2-3 type of Geosynchronous Earth Orbiting Satellite built by Orbital.This satellite is placed in GEO by a series of orbit raising maneuvers that used a Liquid Apogee Motor. It is in an elliptical equatorial orbit after separation from the rocket.
This version of the Star 2 satellite has larger 3 panel solar arrays and an extension on the earth deck to support larger communications payloads.
Communications antennas were mounted on the East and West panels of this satellite and used for communications traffic .
Both mono-propellant and bi-propellant thrusters are used. There a total of 23 thrusters on the satellite, 4 each on the East, and West, 7 on the Aft and 8 on the North faces that are used for station keeping maneuvers. The satellite appears to be in a stationary location in the sky.
I have included the object in both stowed and deployed configurations The .COB format files were initially made using trueSpace 3 and have been imported, tested and saved using trueSpace7. The background textures used for rendering are not included.
The solar arrays in the deployed model are movable. The axis of the model's body and solar arrays have been set for use of the 'Look At' tool in trueSpace. Also as recommended this model has all Intelligent object names added.
