It's a barrel, much like the ones used in old ships.
I tried to keep the polycount to a minimum but, if you wish, a turbosmooth with separation by smoothing groups can be applied ( check thumbnail above ),and tesselation and detail can be increased without compromising either the texture mapping or the model itself. Modeling was done using aproximations to real-world scales. The barrel is about 75 centimeters ( 29.5 inches ) in diameter at its widest by 87 centimeters ( 34 inches ) in height.
