The Boeing 727 is a mid-size narrow-body three-engine jet aircraft. The 727 became a mainstay of airlines domestic routes and was also used on short- and medium-range international routes. Passenger, freighter, and convertible versions of the 727 were built.
The initial 727-100 was launched in 1960 and entered service in February 1964. It was widely used by passenger airlines and cargo carriers well into the 1990s. The Boeing 727 is one of the worlds most economical aircraft to operate. Some are continuing in service to this day.
